HOWICK GOLF CLUB COURSE COMMITTEE 16/3/2010
House Keeping Course Preservation General Information
- Sand Buckets have been reintroduced to encourage members and visitors to fill divots on fairways and tees. While these are not compulsory at this stage, we would hope that the respective heads of the membership sections spread the word and encourage all members to please use them.
- Buckets are available at the commencement of play on the 1st and 9th tees along with sand. After the rounds empty buckets can be placed by the shoe cleaning area behind the 18th green. Additional sand filling stations are available at the 4th and 14th tee areas.
- The refilling of divots on par 3 holes is very important. Sand containers have been in place for many years however only a small percentage of players use them.
- Every second hole will have ball washers available for members and visitors.
- Rubbish bins have been repositioned and placed on every hole.
- General tree maintenance work around the course continues to be carried out. Consideration is given to all trees prior to any maintenance work commencing for, dead or dying trees, branches that are hanging to low or growing into better trees that we need to preserve and in some cases noxious plant removal.
- It is important for the members to know that a very active replacement program is also in place.
- The sale of firewood is available as a result of this tree maintenance which is carried out by the volunteer group.
